The Waldron Mercy Academy class of 2016 can be described with one word: impressive. They worked hard, accomplished a lot, and are now #WaldronReady to take on high school and the world. Meet some of our most recent and incredible alumni.

Meet BK Kothari

BK KothariBK credits Mrs. Pawlish for holding him and his classmates to a high standard both in and outside of math class. “This made me a better student and a better person.” This summer, BK will be keeping up his love of basketball at several camps as well as traveling to India for a family wedding.

Meet Elisa Xuan McKinley

Elisa McKinleyElisa loved her class trip to Project H.O.M.E. where they prepared meals for homeless people. “I really got a chance to learn about the root causes of homelessness, which helped me realize the stereotypes are not the real picture.” The trip was also a chance to reconnect with a past teacher again and to see mercy in action.

Meet Jared Nolan

Jared NolanJared received the prestigious Leadership Award, presented each year to two students who exemplify the qualities of mercy, service, effort, and the ability to influence others to do the same. He shared “whatever high school throws at me, I feel that I am prepared academically and personally to move on to the next chapter of my life.”

Meet Morgan Muehl

Morgan MuehlMorgan was on one of the top placing STEM teams this year. Her team developed Oscar the Elephant, a new Disney-Pixar character, using story-boarding, 3D printing, and focus groups within the lower school and pitched their character via video conference to five professionals in the fields of writing, publishing, television, and education.

Meet Thomas O'Brien

Thomas O'BrienThomas ran on the Cross Country team in the fall. He also served a student ambassador for admissions and participated in the William R. Sasso Student Diplomat Program. He’s looking forward to summer plans that take him to Lake George, NY and to rowing camp at LaSalle High School.

Meet Alexa Battaglia

Alexa BattagliaAlexa was involved in many activities at WMA including field hockey, lacrosse, track and field, Honors Chorale, theatre, and yearbook staff. She loved to witness mercy through many outreach opportunities and enjoyed most her time with the pre-school aged children at Mercy Neighborhood Ministries.

Meet Brandon Banadda

Brandon BanaddaBrandon joined us at WMA in 1st grade, but it’s hard to picture this tall, young man that little these days. Brandon was on WMA’s varsity basketball team this year. Basketball wasn’t the only thing keeping Brandon busy during his tenure at WMA; he also participated in the Toshiba ExploraVision Competition, National Geography Bee, tutoring, piano lessons, and served alongside friends at a number of our outreach partners.

Meet Juliana Di Carlo

Juliana Di CarloWhen asked about a standout teacher, Juliana offered without hesitation “Ms. Flanagan. She is inspiring and teaches with passion and a smile. She motivated me each and every day throughout my time at Waldron.”

Meet Michael Marchese

michael marcheseMichael started at WMA as a Montessori student. Since then he’s been involved with baseball, chess club, and Forensics. This year, Michael placed first in Student Congress at the St. Joseph’s Prep forensics competition. He also participated in the William R. Sasso Student Diplomat Program as well as served as a student ambassador for admissions.

Meet Nicole Arcidiacono

Nicole Arcidiacono

Nicole has been a busy lady during her time at WMA. She played field hockey and lacrosse, served as editor on the yearbook staff, sang in chorale, performed in theatre, and participated in after school outreach programs with Mercy Neighborhood Ministries. As she says, “I’ve spent nine years at Waldron and they’ve prepared me not only academically, but also emotionally. The outstanding education, along with outreach, has taught me valuable skills that I will cherish forever. Because of WMA, I will be more than ready for high school.”

Meet Jimmy McGovern

Jimmy McGovern

Jimmy is a second-generation WMA alumnus who joined us in Montessori. Over his years here at Waldron, he has excelled on the soccer, basketball, and track and field teams, participated in PA Mathematics League, and in countless outreach activities. He shares that he enjoyed “doing outreach and seeing everyone come together to help people in need.”

Meet Alex Towers

Alex came to WMA in 5th grade and remembers that first day of school well. Recess that day was where she was warmly embraced by her new classmates many of whom she says she is lucky to call them her close friends to this day.
