Teacher-Librarian

Waldron Mercy is seeking a teacher-librarian who is a passionate educator, lifelong learner, and a collaborative partner with classroom teachers, staff, and administrators. This candidate will also provide vision and leadership for the library program and its facilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the library’s print and digital resources.
  • Teach library skills classes in grade 3 and “Citizens” classes in grades 4-8.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to enhance the curriculum with related literature.
  • Guide all students in selecting appropriate reading materials.
  • Assist teachers and students in the research process in grades K-8.
  • Oversee special events such as the annual book fair, author visits, and book talks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in library science, information studies, or a similar field strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.

Advancement Office Assistant

The Advancement Office Assistant works closely with the Director of Development and other members
of the Advancement staff on projects and initiatives that engage the school’s various constituencies,
engender a spirit of philanthropy and stewardship, and ensure successful fundraising campaigns and
events.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist Advancement Office staff to plan and create events and fundraising campaigns.
• Prepare solicitation mailing lists for Annual Giving and capital campaigns.
• Work with print house to ensure timely mailings.
• Manage data entry and updates in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
• Generate queries and reports for various events, advancement visits, etc.
• Record gifts and pledges.
• Generate gift acknowledgement letters to donors.
• Prepare gift detail and summary reports.
• Review Integration Reports for accuracy in Education Edge and process integration/synchronization updates.
• Create alumni e-newsletter template and assist with gathering content for this quarterly newsletter.
• Glean alumni information from social media postings to build constituent profiles.
• Use various other sources of information to obtain updated contact, biographical, and career information for constituents.
• Assist with posting event notices on social media.
• Schedule constituent appointments with Principal and Director of Development.
• Collaborate with Parents Association to facilitate their events.

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant development experience, preferably in education or related non-profit organization. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; superior organization skills; and understanding of fundraising best practices.

Software Knowledge: Experience with relational database management, preferably Raiser’s Edge; confidence with report writing.

Afternoon Aide

Waldron Mercy Academy seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Afternoon Teacher Aide for our Waldron Mercy Child Care. This position is responsible for assisting the teachers in the classroom and/or the play yard.

Mercy After Care (MAC) Aide

Mercy After Care is our extended day care service for Waldron Mercy Academy students in kindergarten and grades one to eight. This program includes recreational activities, enrichment experiences, scheduled homework periods and snacks. We are looking to build a staff that will work together to provide individual attention, security and consistency of program in an atmosphere of respect and fun. Beginning on the first day of school, Mercy After Care is open on faculty in-service and parent/teacher conference days, as well as most religious/holy days and other school holidays, until 6:00 p.m.

Substitute Teachers

If you currently have your Pennsylvania certification (early childhood, elementary education or secondary education) and would be interested in substituting at WMA on a per diem basis, please contact Theresa Gannon, middle school director.
